The Morbid Widow's Portrait Gallery

from Best Behavior by Titans of Filth

/

lyrics

I prepared my hair so carefully
before a mirror before we met
I fear she'll forget how fine I once was
can she picture my face and all the rest?

I know it's hard without consulting photographs
But if she keeps them around,
her new friends might frown or laugh

It's the morbid widow's portrait gallery
Where a cold and lonely woman could grow so old
Eagerly awaiting her wrinkled fading face,
Her health's slow decline, and her grave

It's hardly shocking to suggest my lady loves me less
As she pauses to fix her face before answering the door
She's holding the hand of an old friend of mine
And a year has passed since I last heard her laugh like that

I know she mourned my loss through summer on into fall
But spring has arrived
and it's been a long time since she sat and sobbed inside

It's the morbid widow's portrait gallery
Where a cold and lonely woman could grow so old
Eagerly awaiting her wrinkled fading face,
Her health's slow decline, and her grave
